  • After the age of 12, there is approximately only a 10% potential for increasing Agility and Coordination, but a 300-500% potential for Increasing Strength (I know which job I would apply for!)  (Poliquin, 2003)

  • Drinking 1 can of Soda per day increases your chances of Diabetes by 85%!!!  Obesity is a side effect of Soda consumption as well.  (USA Today, June 8, 2004) More than 15 billion gallons of Soda were sold in 2000, which works out to be at least 1 Soda for every man, women and child in the U.S. per day.  (Mercola, 2005)

  • Ireland and Wales boast the most omega-3 deficient citizens, and also the highest rates of alcoholism and depression.  (Charles Poliquin, 2005)

  • Removing flour and juice from a child's diet cures ear infections 92% of the time.  (Dr. Eric Serrano, Dec. 2005)

  • The US government spends 14 million dollars a minute on health care, yet Americans rank between 11th place and 37th in various health categories. Spending more money isn't the answer. (Paul Chek, Dec. 2005)

  • A double-blind placebo study by the Cambridge Heart Antioxidant study in England, concluded that taking 400-800 IU of vitamin E daily resulted in a 75% decreased risk of heart attack, compared to the placebo.  This is because vitamin E protects the oxidation of unsaturated fats and LDL cholesterol (prevents atheroslerosis), has a blood thinning effect, discourages the formation of blood clots, and relaxes the arterial walls.

  • Heart attacks are much more likely to occur following a high carbohydrate meal than a high fat meal.  This is because the high carbohydrate meal raises blood sugar quickly, thus spiking  insulin and leptin, which in turn triggers a stress response.  The stress response causes arterial spasm, constriction of the arteries, and arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat).
     (The Rosedale Diet, 2004)

  • A new interesting study in which 4 groups of mice drank as much of 4 different solutions as they would like; (Group1 = water / Group 2 = sucrose (table sugar) / Group 3 = high fructose corn syrup / Group 4 = artificial sweetener) The result: Group 3 who consumed the high fructose corn syrup consumed the least amount of total calories, but increased their bodyfat % by the most, an 11% increase.  This study shows it's not necessarily how much you eat, but what you eat that is important. Researchers also discovered that "the body metabolizes fructose (found in many foods, especially soft drinks) differently than other sweeteners or carbohydrates and in a way that favors fat storage." (Jurgens, H. Obesity Research, July 2005; vol 13: 1146-1156. News release, University of Cincinnati.)

  • About 80% of disease is treatable if you treat the adrenals and the pancreas. (Charles Poliquin, 2005)

  • The Maasai, an East African Tribe, eat a primitive diet of almost exclusively meat and have little to no incidence of Heart Disease, Cancer, Osteoporosis, or Kidney Disease  (Weston Price Foundation)

  • In an Insulin study researchers dripped insulin into the arteries of a canine over a period of about 4 months. At the end of this period of time the canine's arteries were lined with large amounts of plaque.  (This makes total sense.  While the American diet has decreased fat intake and increased sugar intake it has caused an increase in the average insulin production and thus and increased rate of arteriosclerois and heart disease.  Check the statistics for yourself)

  • From a cortisol perspective, aerobics just plain sucks. Charles states that Diana Schwarzbien, the guru of adrenal disorders, forbids even her morbidly obese clients from performing steady state aerobic work for this reason.

  • Aspartame (NutraSweet) accounts for over 75% of the adverse reactions to food additives reported to the US Food and Drug Administration.  Symptoms reported are death, seizures, headaches, migraines, dizziness, nausea, numbness, muscle spasms, weight gain, rashes, depression, fatigue, irritability, tachycardia, insomnia, vision problems, hearing loss, heart palpitations, breathing difficulties, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, loss of taste, tinnitus, vertigo, and memory loss. (FDA)

  • Do you find yourself famished about five minutes after you waddle out of a Chinese restaurant? Don't just blame the white rice for the blood sugar roller coaster; soy sauce reportedly raises insulin by 157%! (Dr. Eric Serrano, 2005)

  • During the period of the most rapid increase in Heart Disease (1920-1960), American consumption of Animal Fats declined, while consumption of processed Vegetable Oils and Hydrogenated Fats increased.  (USDA-HNI)

  • Starchy carbohydrates are prone to glycation (the binding of a protein molecule to a glucose molecule resulting in the formation of damaged, nonfunctioning structures. Glycated proteins, which accumulate in affected tissue, are reliable markers of disease).  This especially occurs when they are heated (baked) or fried (french fries, chips) which creates a carcinogen called acrilamides. "Acrilamides are so widespread in the food supply that the World Health Organization called a special session to discuss this new threat to world health." (The Rosedale Diet, 2004)

  • Low Intensity Aerobic Exercise Increases bodyfat around the Abdominals, Hips, and Thighs once the 6-8 week adaptation period has been completed (Poliquin, 2004).  The Physiological Explanation is this:  The primary sources of fuel for this type of activity is Oxygen & Bodyfat.  That's good right? Wrong!  Remember, the body Always Adapts to imposed demand.  If one of the primary sources of fuel for Low Intensity, High Duration Exericise is bodyfat, then the survival adaptation would not be to remove bodyfat, but to add fuel deposits (bodyfat) to the body close to where it needs it; The Hips, Thighs & Abs.  This type of Exercise also produces Cortisol which creates Bodyfat accumulation around the stomach and destroys lean muscle tissue.  Anyone who continues to perform this mode of exercise for the goal of bodyfat reduction after knowing the facts is truly "Insane."

  • Speed can only be increased by about 20%.  The best way to be a great speed athlete is to have fast parents. (Poliquin, 2005)

  • "According to Dr. Hugh Fundenburg, one of the most quoted biologist of our time (with nearly 850 papers in peer review journals), if an individual receives too many consecutive flu shots his or her chance of developing Alzheimer's disease is 10 times greater than if they had one, two or no shots. When asked why, Dr. Fundenburg stated it is due to the mercury and aluminum buildup that are in many flu shots and in many other childhood vaccines. The gradual mercury and aluminum buildup in the brain causes eventual cognitive dysfunction."  (Mercola; 2004)

  • A Gene has been linked to atherosclerosis (a build-up of cholesterol in artery walls that leads to most heart attacks and strokes). The adverse effect of this gene, variant form of a gene called 5-lipoxygenase (ALOX5), is increased by consuming Vegetable Oils, but is Blocked by consuming Fish Oils containing NO Polyunsatured Fats.  (Mercola; 2004)

  • A Study in Tanzania showed that AIDS infected women who took a Multi-Vitamin that contained Vitamins B, C, and E, were 30% less likely to advance to a later stage of infection or die than those that received the placebo.  (New England Journal of Medicine; July 1, 2004;351:23-32)

  • Cancer Studies show there is an Inverse relationship between beef consumption and Colon Cancer.  Argentina, one of the largest consumers of beef, has a very low incidence of Colon Cancer  (Cancer Res 35:3513)
